This is a popular vegetable in Sri Lanka. It thrives in dry and semi-arid climates. Capsicum annum, popularly known as hot banana peppers or Hungarian wax peppers, is known in Sinhala as Malu Miris. I use a moderately hot Hungarian wax pepper kind.
